ADMIRE Mission Statement

Families Seeking Quality Emergency Health Services In Milwaukee County and the State of Wisconsin

ADMIRE

(ADvocates for Mental Illness treatment REform)

Vision

We are a group of advocates who seek quality mental health services and continued treatment for loved ones with serious mental illness in Milwaukee County and the State of Wisconsin. We envision a day when services are provided judiciously, efficiently, equitably and humanely.

Mission

  • We want to understand why there are problems with emergency mental health treatment and post emergency treatment in Milwaukee County and then advocate for systemic changes so those with serious mental illness receive the quality treatment they need and deserve.

  • We want changes to Chapter 51 involuntary commitments including the Three Party Petition process to make it easier to get our loved ones the treatment they need.

  • We want Milwaukee County to prioritize service, treatment, and housing for those who live with serious mental illness.

  • We want continuous improvements to occur at the Mental Health Emergency Center (MHEC) and Granite Hills facilities.

  • We want concerned family members to have more involvement in all stages of the emergency mental health and ongoing treatment processes.

  • We want continuous improvements to the criminal justice system to decriminalize loved ones with serious mental illness.

  • We want loved ones with serious mental illness stabilized prior to discharge and connected to a continuum of care and treatment.

  • We want safe, affordable, decent housing for our loved ones with serious mental illness.

We, in ADMIRE, are frustrated with the current state of mental health services and access to them in Milwaukee County. We believe that we can help improve mental health services for those who live with serious mental illness.
